My guess? Toyota truck body was rusted to Swiss cheese but the chassis was still solid and (of course) the motor was running perfectly. The VW was a basket case mechanically and not worth fixing.

I think the wheels on the Jettamino are circa '94-'95 4Runner (base model, since they're steel). Not that that means much, since the same bolt pattern is used on Toyota, Nissan & GM trucks & SUVs.
